I’m Jorge Ian Guajardo — a bilingual sports journalist, researcher, and multimedia storyteller currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Sports Journalism at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. My work bridges the worlds of sports media, public communication, and social impact.

As a Graduate Research Assistant with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, I investigate healthcare access barriers affecting Latino communities across the Southwest, creating Spanish-language content to expand the reach of public health narratives. Previously, I served as a sports editor and on-air personality, producing written and broadcast coverage for UTEP athletics, high school sports, and professional teams through 600 ESPN El Paso and UTEP Student Media Publications.

Before my journalism career, I served in the U.S. Navy as a Sonar Technician Second Class, where I developed strong leadership and team management skills under high-pressure environments. My military background continues to inform my discipline and commitment to excellence in the newsroom and beyond.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, I’m passionate about storytelling that connects communities and amplifies underrepresented voices. My long-term goal is to blend sports media and social advocacy through innovative, culturally rooted journalism.
